What’s Lost When the Human Drivers Are Gone? - Wired

Quick Summary:

This week on Uncanny Valley, we look ahead into a future where driverless cars are mainstream.

Michael Calore: Every time I climb into an Uber, I ask the driver how they feel about the self-driving cars on the road.

The big theme was that people were like, “I love that I'm alone and I don't have to talk to a driver and I don't have to have some sort of awkward interactions that make me a little bit uncomfortable with a driver.” And as someone who kind of worries about how technology is changing our relationships with other people, I've spent some time thinking about whether that's good, and it makes me feel a little bit yucky.
